2027 Suzuki GSX-10R: First Look at the New Liter-Class Sportbike

As expected, Suzuki announced a new liter-class sportbike called the GSX-10R at EICMA 2027. Despite the R in its name, the GSX-10R shares much with Suzuki's GSX-S1000 models but adopts the aggressive ergonomics of the GSX-R1000R. The result threads the needle between track performance and everyday practicality, much like the smaller GSX-8R.
From the side it reinterprets traditional GSX-R styling, but the front face has a noticeably smaller central headlight than before. Suzuki says the front fairing was optimized through repeated wind tunnel testing to create a bubble around the rider's helmet in a tuck, with short winglets designed more for directing airflow than generating downforce.
Engine and electronics
The GSX-10R uses an updated version of Suzuki's K5 engine, currently found in the GSX-S1000GT, GSX-S1000GX and Katana. Updates include new cams, cam chain sprocket, cylinder head, engine cases and crank journals, balancing performance with reliability while futureproofing it for alcohol-based fuels. Suzuki claims 152 hp at 11,000 rpm and 84.1 lb-ft at 9,250 rpm, matched to a slipper clutch and a four-into-one exhaust with a much smaller silencer than the GSX-R1000R.
The electronics package centers on Suzuki's IMU-powered SMART TLRS (Smart Traction, Lift, Roll Torque and Slide Control), joined by three power maps, lean-sensitive ABS, a bidirectional quickshifter, engine braking control, launch control and cruise control. A new brake hold system keeps the rear brake applied for 30 seconds after a full stop, on level ground as well as hills, releasing when the rider opens the throttle or squeezes the front lever twice.
Chassis
The chassis is similar to the GSX-S and Katana but with a new subframe suited to sportier ergonomics. Suspension is a fully adjustable 43mm KYB fork and a newly designed fully adjustable rear shock, while Brembo supplies dual 310mm front discs and radial monoblock calipers.
